Vivitar 70-210 f2.8-4 Series 1 APO vs. Minolta Beercan

My attempt at science, comparing the Vivitar and Beercan. The pics were all shot within minutes of one another and of the same subjects. [Sorry but I couldn't convince my cat to retain her pose.]

All the pics are aperture priority f4, spot metered and autofocus. To get the pics at approximately the same time, the Beercan pics were taken with a 5D and the others with a 7D. [We had a strong north wind in Houston this day, so the flower pics are likely affected with some motion blur.] Click here for the EXIF information.

See what you think.

Vivitar Series 1 w/ 2x Quantaray Teleconverter

It looks like the Beercan pics are underexposed and/or the Vivitar pics are overexposed. So I'll probably experiment with some compensation. Interesting.

Here are the same pics with "Fast Fix" applied in Upshot!: (click for the original sized image):

What I conclude from this is that the Beercan is still the champ. But the Vivitar is a definite budget alternative, especially considering its slight speed advantage. And the teleconverter works fine with the Vivitar, as I'm sure it would with the Beercan.

I also need to repeat this test with raw shots and see if I can equalize the exposure.
