Leasehold Estates (Renting)

OBJECTIVES 

Students shall be able to

  1. define the principal kinds of tenancies available to persons who rent real property.

  2. describe some of the most common covenants found in a lease.

  3. list the rights and duties of landlords and tenants.

  4. recognize the liability of landlords and tenants to third parties.

  5. distinguish between an item of personal property that is a fixture and one that is not a fixture, and decide whether the item belongs to the landlord or the tenant.

  6. answer questions from the Texas Property Code.

 

ACTIVITIES

  1. Students shall search online for a rental apartment.
