Introduction to Torts

OBJECTIVE 

Students shall be able to

  1. define tort,

  2. define different classes of torts: intentional, negligence, and strict liability,

  3. differentiate among different classes of torts,

  4. list the elements of negligence, and

  5. evaluate fact situations involving elements of negligence.
     

ACTIVITIES

  1. Lecture/discussion: Torts

  2. PowerPoint notes: Negligence

  3. Students shall watch two People's Court cases.

  4. Answer questions about each of the cases.

Assignments: Read chapter four in the text on Torts. Watch the People's Court cases and answer the questions about (1) "The little piggy who didn't go to market," and (2) "A Shotz in the dark."
