Introducing the Course

OBJECTIVE 

Students shall be able to

  1. understand the purposes and requirements of the course, and

  2. understand the economic way of thinking.
     

ACTIVITIES

  1. Lecture/discussion: the A.P. Macroeconomics course.

  2. Students shall read chapter one in The Armchair Economist.

Assignments:

  1. Read chapter one in The Armchair Economist. [Click here for the text file from the chapter.]

  2. Answer these questions from Chapter One in The Armchair Economist.

  3. Read chapter three in McConnell & Brue's Economics.
    [Alternately, read "Demand, Supply, Market Equilibrium and Welfare Analysis" and "Elasticity, Microeconomic Policy and Consumer Theory" in 5 Steps to a 5. Actually you can skip the "Welfare Analysis" and the "Microeconomic Policy and Consumer Theory" part for now. They won't be on the 1st test. You will have to read them later.]
