What do I do if I need to see my principal?
Go to your principal’s office and make an appointment with the secretary.
Ms. Arellano and Mr. Hensley are located in the
front office and Ms. Ditta is located in the upstairs administrative office
near the upstairs entrance

to see my counselor?
Get a counselors’
request slip from one of your teachers and fill it out. Return it to your
teacher or drop it off in the counseling office, located in the administrative offices
upstairs..
What do I do if I am late to class?

You are to be dropped off in front of the 9th
grade building and may go to your 1st period class

school early?
Go to the
attendance office
before school with a note from home. Put a contact number on the note.
If I have a doctor’s note and
have missed only part of the day, what should I do?
Bring the doctor’s note to the attendance
office that day or the next to verify your appt. This is recorded as ST
and
will not count against exemptions if done in the 5 day period after the
absence.
What do I do if I am
assigned detention?
Detention is
held after school. You must notify your parents and provide for your own
transportation.
Detention
will not be changed without a parent note and
requests must be made by 1:00 p.m. to Mrs.
What do I do if I need
to ride another bus home?
Bus permission slips will be given for emergencies only. Bring a note stating which bus you wish to ride, signed by your parent or guardian, and give it to Ms. Dickson before school.

textbook?

What if I lose my tablet PC?
See your principal to fill out a police report immediately.
What if I
find another person’s text book or personal articles?
Turn them into the attendance office.

in the lost and found across from athletics and then with the attendance
office.
What if I become ill
while I am at school?
Get a pass
from your teacher to go to the nurses’
office. The nurse will
contact your parent or guardian if
necessary.
Do not call someone to come for you. Do not stay in a restroom. The nurse’s office is located
downstairs by the “Up Staircase”
What if I need to take
medicine?
Your parent or guardian must bring the prescription medicine to the nurses’ office. Over-the-counter medication may be brought by a student if it is in the original container.
What do I do if I need information about my
schedule, or if I have a personal
problem?
See your
counselor.
What are the IPOD/electronic device rules ?
You should not have them at school. They will be taken up and a parent must
come and get it.

a cell phone?
Make sure it is off
and
out of sight
at all times during the school day.
10 Things You Need to Know About the 9th Grade Wing
All students are to walk counter clockwise in the outside hallways—That means that when you enter from the main building—you are to turn right (there will be arrows to guide you)
There are 3 staircases in the 9th grade wing. One is for traveling upstairs and two are for going down.
The middle hallway may have traffic going in both directions.
All students that are in the 9th grade wing for 4th period, will have “A” lunch. This begins at 10:45am. If you are in the main building for 4th period, you might have “B,C,D lunch.
All students are expected to wear their IDs on their lanyards. You need this ID for tardy station, use of the library and to get lunchs. This is mainly for safety.
Students will be assigned D-hall / ISS for tardies. After the 2nd tardy After School Detention (ASD) will be assigned. Students with repeated tardies after that will be assigned In School Suspension.
In terms of discipline — Conduct warranting detention
after school (ASD) will be from 2:35-4:35 in the ISS room of the main
building. ISS will be in the 9th grade wing room 1001.
ISS is Instructional:
Students will have two to three hours of math and science work alternating
with 1 hour of social studies and elective work.
Should you not have any work in electives, there will be TAKS reviews for
you to work on. You will be allowed to put down your head down or interfere
with the education of others. Should you be sent out of ISS—a parent
conference will be set up when you are picked up or when you return to
campus.
Should you get sent home for an infraction warranting OSS—you will need to meet with the head principal with a parent upon your return. A ten percent (10%) grade penalty is incurred for class assignments missed due to OSS.
There will be many incentives during the year for excellent conduct and good grades. Plan to be part of the “A" TEAM!
